Description: Yu Yua, born circa 1952 is from the Pintubi tribe, comes from Kintore, Northern Territory. She has been painting since 1987 and is one of the most respected Papunya Tula women artists. Her traditional style using bright colours is very much sought after by collectors worldwide This Traditional painting depicts women’s ceremonial site where women gather to perform women’s business, they gather in the valley’s to paint their bodies with sacred designs and perform their ceremonies which aboriginal women have been performing for thousands of years. In these valley’s there is much bush tucker. Ceremonies continue for many days hidden from the men of their tribe where they teach their young women the Dreamtime stories and songs in order to preserve their culture.
