Janet Forrester Ngala, born in July 1936, a Luritja speaker who began painting in the late 1980’s with the Jukurrpa Dreaming group based in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, paints the Dreaming from Ernabella and Maryvale, which were told to her by her Grandparents. She often travels to the Dreaming sites of her family to paint.
Janet’s work was included in a major exhibition of Jukurrpa artists at the Araluen Arts Centre, Alice Springs in 1989 and in several subsequent shows including Desert Dreaming – Grand Hyatt Jakarta 1992, London 1993, Sydney 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, Melbourne 1994 to 1998, Australian Embassy Washington and New York.
Janet’s brilliant use of colour creates a multi dimensional vision, which is highly sought after.
Collectors in New York, England, Switzerland, Germany and Rome have acquired her works.
