Norbett Lynch Kngwarreye was born in 1950 at Yambah station. He is of an Arrernte tribe group known as Anmatyerre.

He lives on his traditional land near Alice Springs in Central Australia. Norbett was taught his Corkwood Dreaming stories by his father Don "Popsie" Lynch.

His Artworks are in many private collections. In 1992 a large Corkwood Dreaming painting sold to a French Collector for $15,000. It was one of the highest prices paid for an aboriginal painting in Alice Springs.
