Maureen was born in the bush at Mt. Allen Cattle Station "Yuelemu" in 1959. She became an artist in 1981 and has had many exhibitions.

Her paintings originate from Warlukalonga, her fathers and grandfathers descendants country involving Emu/Fire and Womens Ceremony from her Mothers side. She belongs to the Warlpiri Tribe.
