      Warlpiri Tribe from Yuendumu

Deidrie Napangardi was born on the 21st February 1961 in Yuendumu, Northern Territory. Part of the Warlpiri tribe, she commenced painting in 1978 at the age of seventeen. Deidre has two sisters Lisa and Dulcie who are both artists. She paints her family's traditional dreamtime stories.

The deamings that Deidre paint shave been past down to her by her Grandfather, Uncle and Father are Bush Banana, Possum Dreaming, Bush Plum, Honey Ant, Bush Bean, Bush Potato, Bush Grape, Goanna Dreaming and Bush Tomato.

Deidre's interest in preserving her ancestral culture and dreamings is portrayed through her unique and very colourful artwork. Her artworks have been aquired by collectors in Australia and overseas.

More Deidrie Napangardi paintings are available from our Fine Art Gallery.

Deidrie displays one of her painting called - Bush Banana Dreaming.
